Together with our partners
What Matters to Us
For us, sustainability encompasses many different topics—from the selection of materials and manufacturing processes to certifications, product features, and long-standing partnerships. We focus on concrete and transparent information rather than general promises. Standards and certifications help us clearly define specific requirements and make them verifiable.
Certifications & Standards
What Lies Behind the Seals
For select products and materials, we rely on recognized certifications and standards. These define specific requirements and ensure that certain properties and manufacturing processes are traceable.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an internationally recognized standard for textiles made from certified organic fibers. It defines environmental, human rights, and social criteria for the textile supply chain. Compliance with these requirements is verified by independent certification bodies accredited by GOTS.
For select items made from lambswool, the outer fabric is made of wool certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) by Textile Exchange. The standard sets requirements for animal welfare, land management, and working conditions at producer farms; mulesing is prohibited under the standard. Compliance is audited annually by an independent certification body. Whether a specific item is RWS-certified is indicated on the respective product page.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an internationally recognized standard for products made with recycled materials. It sets requirements for the percentage of recycled content and its traceability, as well as for social and environmental criteria and the use of chemicals in the manufacturing process. Compliance with these requirements is verified by independent certification bodies.
We are certified by Control Union. Our GRS number is: CU844876

The foundation of our products
From organic cotton to wool to various cellulose fibers: Learn more here about select materials used in our collections.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are made from wood pulp sourced from controlled or certified sources. The manufacturing process uses a closed-loop system in which process water and solvents are largely recovered and reused. The fibers are characterized by a soft, smooth surface and a comfortable feel against the skin.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibers are made from wood sourced from controlled or certified sources. The manufacturing process meets requirements defined by Lenzing, and the fibers are traceable throughout the supply chain. EcoVero™ combines the typical properties of viscose with a soft feel and a flowing drape.
The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) evaluates companies based on established criteria for fair trade practices. These include, among other things, working conditions, fair pay, the prohibition of child and forced labor, and transparency in business relationships. Compliance is regularly monitored as part of the WFTO Guarantee System.
Selected Tranquillo products are manufactured by WFTO-verified producers.
These manufacturers are certified under ISO 14001. This international standard sets requirements for the environmental management system of a company or production site. The certification applies to the manufacturer’s environmental management practices and not to individual products.
You can find out whether this applies to a specific product on the product page.
Organic cotton is grown in accordance with the guidelines for organic farming. The use of synthetic pesticides and readily soluble mineral fertilizers is restricted or prohibited; instead, methods and materials approved by the relevant organic standard are used. Genetically modified seeds are not used.
Cotton fibers can be processed in a variety of ways and are used by Tranquillo in numerous textiles. For appropriately labeled products, certifications such as GOTS provide additional information about the specific requirements that have been verified.
Stainless steel is heat-resistant and durable. Products made of stainless steel are designed for long-term use and can be reused many times. This makes them suitable for numerous everyday applications.
We define natural products as those that consist primarily of materials of natural origin. Depending on the material and manufacturing process, natural variations in color, texture, or surface may occur, making each piece unique.
Special Features & Characteristics
What Sets Our Products Apart
Our products have different properties and characteristics. Selected features and labels make these easy to identify at a glance.
Selected products are handcrafted in workshops. Because they are made by hand, slight variations may occur, making each piece unique.
We label products as “hand-stamped” when patterns or designs are applied by hand using stamps. This artisanal process can result in slight variations in color, shape, and pattern, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
Items marked with this symbol do not contain any ingredients of animal origin and are therefore suitable for a vegan lifestyle.
Plant-based ingredients form the foundation: Products labeled as such contain only oils and fats of plant origin.
Dishes, mugs, and kitchen accessories made from food-safe materials are suitable for contact with food and designed for everyday use in the kitchen.
Recycled materials are used in products marked accordingly. The specific percentage of recycled material is listed for each product.
Our soaps and lotions do not contain palm oil and are instead enriched with essential oils.
Our producers are members of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and are regularly audited by the organization.
Durable products are designed to be used over a long period of time. Sturdy materials, careful craftsmanship, and proper care can help preserve their qualities and functionality for as long as possible.
Partnership & Requirements
Collaboration Based on Clear Principles
We have been working with many of our manufacturers for many years. For our collaboration, we define requirements that are set forth in our Tranquillo Code of Conduct and our product compliance guidelines. In these documents, our suppliers commit to requirements that are based, among other things, on the core labor standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO). These include, for example, guidelines on the prohibition of child labor and forced labor, as well as on discrimination, freedom of association, and occupational safety. Important: The Tranquillo Code of Conduct is a contractual commitment by our suppliers and is not a product seal or an independent certification.
